A group of local residents wish to highlight the ecosystem of the Saint-Amand site, its unique geology and waterways, to promote a new river path and to share the story of the village.
The Vrille meanders through the landscape, fed by numerous streams, flowing from one mill to the next, from its source on the edge of the Forterre to its confluence with the Loire. An area of water, woodland, meadows, clay and ochres, steeped in a rich tradition of pottery and ceramic art.
The commissioners initiated a comprehensive reflection on the revitalisation of this socially and economically marginalised territory, centred on a unifying goal: to preserve and celebrate the “water landscapes” that shape Puisaye’s identity and appeal. The artwork will also provide an opportunity to create a new path along the Vrille, allowing visitors to explore the landscape’s rich yet fragile heritage, shaped by flowing water, characterised by wetlands, and punctuated by wooded stretches and viewpoints that reveal its features in all their clarity.
Artist Suzanne Husky has been selected for this commission and his currently working on the artistic study.
