In Lunay, a collective of residents of all ages has initiated an art commission focusing on the practices of solidarity and mutual aid that structure daily life in the village.
A commune of around 1,200 inhabitants located in the Loir Valley and part of the Territoires Vendômois urban community, Lunay consists of a central village and several hamlets. Its territory is marked by a troglodytic heritage carved into the tuffeau stone and a predominantly agricultural economy. Local life is based on a strong spirit of mutual aid: neighbours helping neighbours, community involvement, promoting short supply chains and direct exchanges between producers and residents.
United by these observations, the new patrons wish to highlight, through a participatory work, these ordinary acts of solidarity, which are often invisible and unmonetised. The request is for a sensitive creation capable of revealing this intangible wealth, without militant discourse, as a way of building a society based on kindness, lasting bonds and alternative modes of exchange, envisaged as resources for thinking about the future in the face of contemporary social and ecological challenges.
Commission developed as part of the Call for Proposals for New Patrons in Centre-Val de Loire, with the support of the Société des Nouveaux commanditaires, supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, and Bourges, European Capital of Culture 2028.
