In Faye-la-Vineuse, a group of residents has initiated an art commission focusing on social ties and shared memories within a rural village with a rich medieval heritage.
Located in the far south of Indre-et-Loire, on the border with Vienne and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Faye-la-Vineuse stands out for its rich architectural heritage and dynamic local life. Behind this image, however, long-standing divisions persist between long-time residents and recent arrivals, revealing tensions around how to inhabit the territory, pass on its history, and plan for its future.
United by these observations, the group of New patrons wish to launch an artistic commissioning process to highlight the village’s human and cultural wealth. By sharing the memories of places and people, regardless of their origins, the request aims to open up a space for dialogue and collectively imagine forms of cohesion, echoing the realities experienced by many rural areas today
Commission developed as part of the Call for Proposals for New Patrons in Centre-Val de Loire, with the support of the Société des Nouveaux commanditaires, supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, and Bourges, European Capital of Culture 2028.
