In Landes-le-Gaulois, a group of young people from the Municipal Youth Council, supported by the local council, is initiating an art commission centred on the town’s leisure centre and the role of aesthetics in places dedicated to children.

A village of 780 inhabitants, Landes-le-Gaulois is characterised by its rich history, marked by the presence of megaliths, dolmens, a Roman road and ancient religious heritage. Today, the town relies on a dynamic network of associations and local facilities that structure local life, including a recently renovated leisure centre that welcomes children from several surrounding towns on a daily basis.

The new patrons, who are members of the Municipal Youth Council, wish to initiate an artistic reflection on the standardisation of buildings and their perceived impersonal character. The request is for the design of an artistic creation that is accessible to all, capable of transforming the surroundings of the leisure centre, strengthening the sense of belonging and collective pride, and fitting in with the spirit of ‘doing things together’ that is already deeply rooted in community life.
