A nurse, a senior healthcare executive, an art therapist from the George Sand Hospital Centre and a department director from PROMÉTHÉE CHER are initiating an art commission involving several CHS sites in Dun-sur-Auron, Chézal-Benoît and the hospital’s future third place.
The George Sand Hospital Centre is also developing a third place project entitled Cultures, Arts and Mental Health, which is part of a policy to open up the hospital to the community and is based on a psychosocial rehabilitation programme. At the regional level, the CHS supports a wide audience spread across several sites, in a context where perceptions of mental health remain strongly marked by stigma.
Based on these observations, the group of new patrons wish to commission an artistic project that promotes encounters between people suffering from mental disorders and citizens through the prism of culture. The request is for a creation capable of questioning collective representations, deconstructing prejudices associated with mental health and contributing to a better understanding of the care pathways and unique circumstances of the people concerned.
Commission developed as part of the Call for Proposals for New Patrons in Centre-Val de Loire, with the support of the Société des Nouveaux commanditaires, supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, and Bourges, European Capital of Culture 2028.
